My only brother died in a plane crash back in the 1980's. Two of his children perished with him. My brother was a musician and singer. One of his favorite groups was the Eagles.
The song Hotel California, being his number one favorite.
Every time I think about my brother over the years and I am within ear shot of a radio, that is the song that comes on! It is like he is saying, " Hi sis, yes I am thinking of you too." You would think after all these years the song would play less and less, but it always seems to have some sort of revival.
I met my friend Lucy for dinner and a movie last night. Her significant other is a big Eagle's fanatic. At their big blowout 4Th of July beach party, someone gave him a newly released, best of the Eagles album. I had never mentioned my connection to this song with Lucy.
While we were eating dinner, Lucy told me the day before, at the county fair, her boyfriend found an Eagles album signed by all of the original band members. It was the Hotel California album, in pristine condition, under glass in a frame. Quite pricey, but he purchased it anyway. I had been thinking about my brother while driving to meet my friend. My brother's favorite song did not come on the radio, yet he was letting me know he was also thinking of me. The synchronicity event of the Eagles memorabilia was a definite sign for me. It was the perfect moment to share the information with my friend.
The wonderful admiration of this music and group is still shared with me and my brother through these events, in a random way, on the checker board of life.
